What Happens on Publish

1

Files are synced

Any attached knowledge files are uploaded to the voice engine first.
2

Configuration is pushed

Your model, voice, transcriber, and prompt settings are sent to Vapi.
3

Vapi ID is assigned

Your assistant gets a unique Vapi ID (used for call routing).
4

TTS cache is pre-warmed

If using a custom voice, the first message audio is pre-generated for faster pickup.

Auto-Sync on Save

Once published, any changes you save are automatically synced to the voice engine. You don’t need to manually publish again.
Publishing does NOT connect your assistant to a phone number. You must link it separately.

Republishing

If you need to force a re-sync (e.g., after a voice engine update):
  1. Open the assistant editor
  2. Click Publish again
  3. The configuration is re-pushed to the voice engine
